Mothering multiples
This class is a must for parents expecting multiples! Caring for two or more newborns is a one-of-kind experience with special demands and pressures. From the first hours after birth, to the hospital experience and the first weeks at home, this class prepares you with realistic expectations and practical knowledge. You will learn about resources, products, tips and techniques to care for two or more babies at once, including daily care (diapering, bathing, dressing, feeding and safety issues). We’ll also talk about the emotional joys and challenges associated with raising multiples. An excellent resource binder is included in the class. Breastfeeding Basics Babies are born to be breastfed and this prenatal class offers all the information and tips you will need for success. Learn latching and positioning techniques, how to establish or increase your milk supply, and how to avoid or treat common breastfeeding concerns. In-depth discussion about the first days of feeding, the importance of skin-to-skin contact and rooming-in at the hospital to learn and respond to your baby’s hunger cues. A presentation regarding nursing bras, pillows and other support items is included. Parents leave this class feeling more confident in their ability to feed their newborns and to make informed feeding choices. The price of the class includes your husband or partner, who is encouraged to attend. HypnoBirthing HypnoBirthing®, a childbirth method developed by Marie Mongan, prepares couples for childbirth by using self-hypnosis, breathing, light touch and other techniques to facilitate deep relaxation. This method helps women work with the mind and body to increase comfort and minimize the need for medical intervention. In this class, partners and support persons are taught how to support women as they practice and implement the techniques throughout pregnancy and labor. This comprehensive class is designed to fully prepare couples for all aspects of labor, birth and the immediate postpartum period. We encourage you to take this class in the early second trimester, if possible, to allow time to practice the techniques you learn throughout the remainder of your pregnancy. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring pillows to this class. Grand-parenting Classes Grandparents are valuable members of today’s families This class offers grandparents-to-be the opportunity to prepare for grandparenthood and develop special relationships with their grandchildren. Discover how childbirth and childcare have changed over the years and become acquainted with the many new products and techniques that have been developed since your children were born. Learn how to distinguish the difference between offering advice and giving support in order to maximize your role as a new grandparent. Mother/baby Photography By appointment only– Sittings offered by our own Mothering Mommies,LLC photographer. Make a memory of this special time. Beautifully posed and artistically designed photos of your pregnant belly or your new baby.
